I dont usually admired Malaysian make movie or advertisement. But when come to Yashmin Ahmad as producer, it is always deep in our Malaysian heart. She is the one who can really unite all the Malaysian. She passed away peacefully recently and it will be a big lost to all Malaysian. I would like to give a tribute to her by showing her video in this blog post.
The last movie here is the last movie by Yasmin before she left us. The title is “Chocolate”, it has a very profound message of what is really happening in Malaysia. Although we live in same country, people still live in separate races and religion. The races and religion suppose to unite but it separate us.
In the movie, the chinese boy want to give the malay girl chocolate but his live was too much effected by his mum. His mum just grumbling about he has no future in Malaysia due to scholarship was not given to the chinese races. The chinese boy actually likes the malay girl, but when his mother shouted at him, its kinda reminded him about how unfair the malays are treating the chinese, so he was rejected the girl even she is only short of 5 cents.
Is Yasmin trying to tell us the metaphor of the hindrance to Unity. The inequality treatment has cause continuous revenge in our races ?
Thank you Yasmin. You will be remember by us all.
